Finish quintet Us have revealed their newest single, ‘Hop On A Cloud’. Their blend of punk and blues rock is blisteringly energetic, matching their notorious live sound. This new cut is more of a playful slow burn, with a quirky 60s energy appearing earlier than the punk influences in its first half, referencing the warm bounce of The Kinks. It soon develops into something bursting with life and hooks in its latter moments. On the video that accompanies the track, shot on grainy Super 8 film, Us explain: “We wanted to use film, not to look retro but because everything on our social media feed, TV and cinema looks very digital, stuff shot on film look much more beautiful or somehow more emotional.” The band are fresh from their set at Glastonbury and are gearing up to release their ten-track debut album, Underground Renaissance, on 20th September, 2024, via Kratpop!. -Dan Peeke
